5 Simple Tips to Improve Windows PC Performance
Performance is the major issue we are facing in our pc, for better performance it requires some maintenance, some steps to follow periodically. In this article we will learn how to improve our windows pc performance and easy ways to maintain our computers.
we have to follow few steps :
Get the latest updates for Windows and device drivers
The best ways to get the most out of your PC is to make sure you have the latest version of Windows Software installed. When you check for System updates, your PC will also search for the latest device drivers, which can also help improve your PC’s performance.
To check for updates
Press the Start button, then search and select Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
Do one of the following:
If the update status says “You’re up to date”, then go to the next tip.
If the update status says “Updates are available”, then select Install now it will install all selected updates.
Select the updates you want to install, then select Install it.
After completion of update Restart your PC and see if it seems to run better.
Restart your PC and open only the application you need
Having many programs, applications, web browsers, and so on open at once can slow down your PC. Having a lot of tabs open in the browser can also slow it down quite a bit. If this is happening, close any apps, browser tabs, etc., that you don’t need and see if that helps speed up your PC. If it doesn’t seem to help, restart your PC and then open just the programs, applications, and browser windows you need.
To restart your PC
1) Select the Start button, then select Power > Restart.
2) After your PC restarts, open just the apps that you need, then close them when you’re done.
Run Disk Clean-up and remove the unnecessary files.
Disk Clean-up is a computer system maintenance tool included in Microsoft Windows designed to remove unnecessary files and free up the disk space on a computer’s hard drive. The tool first searches and analyzes the hard drive for files that are no longer of any use, and then removes the unnecessary files.
To Run Disk Clean-up and remove the unnecessary files
Select a drive and right click > Properties > Disk Clean-up
Select the unnecessary files which you want to delete, press OK then select Delete Files
Run Defragment and Optimise Drives
Microsoft Disk Defragmenter(defragment and Optimise Drives) is a utility in Microsoft Windows designed to increase data access speed by rearranging files stored on a disk to occupy contiguous storage locations, a technique called defragmentation. Defragmenting a disk decreases head travel, which reduces the time it takes to read files from and write files to the disk. As a result of the decreased read and write times, Microsoft Disk Defragmenter decreases system startup times for systems starting from magnetic storage devices such as a hard drive. However, defragmentation cannot be run on storage devices such as SSD(solid state drives) or SD cards that use flash memory to increase speeds, as these drives do not use a head.
For run defragment and Optimise Drives
Open defragment and Optimise Drives application
Select the drive and click Optimise
Disable unnecessary startup programs
When you start your PC, some programs start automatically and run in the background. You can disable these programs so they don’t run automatically when your PC starts.
Many programs are designed to start automatically for quick load when you want to access the app. You don’t realize they’re running in the background, but they’ll open quickly when you go to use them. This is helpful for programs you use frequently, but not for programs you don’t use often because it increases the time it takes Windows to start and decreases the PC performance.
To stop a program from starting automatically
Open Task Manager or press(ctrl+Shift+ESC)
In the Startup Apps area, find the program you want to stop from starting automatically and set it to Disable.
